    This year, together with our partner Startup Launchpad, we are excited to have co-organized the Tech[Life]Style Conference 2019 with the theme of “Living Smarter, Living Better”. This event focused on really technologies related to day-to-day living (and anything at the intersection of technology and lifestyle) including fashion/ textiles, food, travel amongst many other industries.     SEA. As the China innovation and capital scene slowed in the past year, attention has rapidly shifted to South-east Asia. In early November, The Mills Fabrica had the pleasure to participate in Green is the New Black’s Conscious Festival in Singapore. We also had the chance to meet with various government teams, investors and startups in the city.     Over the past week, Taipei played host to one of the most innovative textiles show globally- at Taipei Innovative Textiles Application Show (TITAS) 2018. Overall, it was a fascinating exhibition showcasing the latest innovations in textiles especially in functional fabrics & apparel globally. The highlight of the show was definitely Far Eastern New Century’s (FENC) annual showcase and it was a real pleasure to have been invited by them to showcase as their partner at TITAS this year.

    It was a rewarding week in Hong Kong for the fashion industry with the completion of Asia’s largest fashion sustainability conference- Fashion Summit 2018. In addition, the event was also complemented by the launch of new upcycling technologies in retail and manufacturing in Hong Kong, rounding up an exciting week all round.

    Over the past week, The Mills had the pleasure to welcome Hong Kong Chief Executive Mrs. Carrie Lam, GBM, GBS, as well as Secretary for Commerce & Economy Mr. Edward Yau, GBS, JP, to visit The Mills site in Tsuen Wan. During the visit, we got to show our distinguished guests a glimpse of what is to come, including highlights of Fabrica’s future space, key tenants and potential activities at Shopfloor and also CHAT’s current summer programme “Let’s go build a textile village” exhibition.     Over the past week, Hong Kong was home to one of the largest tech conferences in Asia- RISE Conference. The conference brought together some of the top players in the tech industry in the region, from leading startups to investors as well as government officials (Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam was a guest speaker). Overall, this was a great event for Hong Kong’s startup ecosystem and The Mills Fabrica is excited to have been a part of the event.

    Over the month of June, The Mills Fabrica worked on and launched various new partnerships and initiatives focused on ecosystem building- first with HKUST in Hong Kong and then with Central Saint Martins and Fashion for Good in Europe. Specifically, these partnerships were focused on building a pipeline of talent and innovation/ sustainability globally.

  • At the end of April, The Mills Fabrica team was in Taipei together with two of our incubatees. EONIQ and ORII, to showcase at the Creative Expo Taiwan (CET) and also join in events hosted by our partner Taiwan Startup Stadium (TSS). Here are some of the trip’s key highlights.
