Coffee Waste Leather Alternative.
Bell Society aims to convert organic waste from Indonesia’s coffee industry waste, coffee skin waste from the local farmers in Pangalengan and Manglayang Mountain area to coffee ground waste from cafe, into sustainable biodegradable material. They use bacteria to convert coffee skin waste into leather alternatives such as M-Tex, converting the coffee skin husk into a flexible board, and coffee grounds waste to create a flexible corkboard-like material. Secang wood natural colorant is used to dye M-Tex into a red shade and biodegrades in soil in 2-4 weeks.
