Fashion's waste puts down new roots in King's Cross:
Root Cause is an exhibition of garments, accessories and homeware made from discarded materials: new cause found at the root of fashion and industry's waste problem, presented by Exiled during London Fashion Week 2026.
Pieces handmade from consumer returns, surplus stock, factory offcuts and forgotten natural fibres sit in a natural scape of moss and stone – itself drawn from recovered waste – amid installations of the raw material they began as. In the hands of skilled makers, they have found new purpose – new cause – made to a standard the original material deserved all along.
Around the pieces is presented the wider story of Exiled's movement, from its makers to leading-edge deconstruction and recovery techniques, and regeneration projects taking hold in communities and ecosystems.
Root Cause also hosts a broader circular fashion events programme (see below) over the four days, including bookable leather-making and sewing workshops, a customisation station, and a daily haberdashery sale of reclaimed and new injection-moulded hardware.
