MAISON ERRANCE

(ENGLISH VERSION ONLY)

Maison Errance is a slow design studio based in Lille, France. They developed interior design pieces such as functional sculptures that tell the story of circularity-led design that tackles global challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, waste and pollution.

Errance developed their own dyeing technique enabling them to soak the design pieces in natural colours that are locally sourced. The French saying of ‘savoir-faire’ goes in line when two founders Paul-Etienne and Sarah go to the local forest called ‘Foret De Marchiennes‘ based in the North of France where they forage the plants. The process involves pruning the ferns in a way so they can regenerate, sorting them into small bouquets, drying, cleaning, sifting, boiling until it’s ready to be filtered and used for natural dying. The wastewater and filtered plants are then placed back in their compost, feeding it back to Earth.
