The problem of plastic waste is an important issue today. Currently there are 275 million tons of plastic waste produced from all over the world. This problem arises from the use of single-use plastic materials that are not environmentally friendly, it takes about a year to degrade. In addition, this type of plastic is very difficult to recycle.

Therefore, we develop environmentally friendly material solutions from agricultural waste of rice straw, which is quite a lot but is only burned in the fields, then we process it with machines and treatments to produce these single-use plastic replacement products.

This our solution our product. That is an alternative to Styrofoam and bubble wrap that are more environmentally friendly from rice straw agricultural waste. Our product is ecofoam which is a disposable container what is a virgin material, not a recycle material, so there is no bacteria and it is safe for food. This product is also heat resistant up to 180 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for heating food and baking cakes. And this container is an oil absorber so that the oil on food does not collect at the bottom like in a plastic container.

The second is our shaved straw product which is an alternative to styrofoam and bubble wrap.
Where our products are aesthetic with natural colors that can be used to decorate hampers and gifts. And also this product is durable so it is suitable for protecting glassware during shipping.

This is a test from lab that we do to prove that our products can be composted or can be degraded in any media in the landfill for less than 3 months so that when they are not used again they can be composted and will not damage an environment.

Of course, in our daily life, we find a lot of single-use plastic when ordering takeaway food or ordering goods from the marketplace. And this has become a big industry around 579.7 billion usd market value of this industry. Meanwhile, based on European Bioplastic, the projection of the bioplastic industry or a more environmentally friendly plastic substitute is around 57 billion usd. And we’re targeting about 10 percent of that. With the regulations in several big cities in Indonesia that have banned styrofoam such as in Jakarta, Bandung and Bali. And this is our chance to take on such a huge market.

We supply our products to restaurants, dining establishments, distributors and other businesses/agencies who use Styrofoam and bubble wrap to switch to our products that are more environmentally friendly. We have started sales last year with more than 40 customers. spread in Indonesia. And this our client now.

This is a comparison with products on the market. Surely we often get plastic containers or paper boxes when ordering food online or takeaway. Our products do not contain plastic like others and our prices can still compete with these products.

We believe that our products are more sustainable and affordable compared to existing competitors because we use raw materials from underutilized waste and their availability is quite a lot especially in Indonesia. Our production process from upstream to downstream results in a low carbon footprint only on energy sources. And also our products are 100% natural because they don’t use harmful chemicals.

And in addition to our pursuit of profit and helping to solve environmental problems, we also want to have an impact on farmers by taking our raw materials directly from them so that we pay a fair price which hopefully can be an additional source of income for farmers. So that our company can implement a triple bottom line, namely profit, people, and planet

Let me introduce my team.

I myself am Gabriel Butarbutar as CEO, then there is my friend Nur Ayukaryana as Head of Research and lastly there is my friend Vicky Barunson as COO, We started this ecoplast in 2020 we received grants from the Indonesian and Dutch governments for prototyping and already registered patents. In 2021 We produce our products in a home industry with improvised facilities and the market response to our products is very good. So that this year we can generate revenue from the sale of our products and now we are looking for funding so that we can produce more and streamline our business processes so that our ultimate goal is to generate profits and company sustainability in 2025.

Currently we seeking around 100,000 USD to build our own factory. Because currently our production capacity is limited to around 10,000 pcs per month from the home industry. Then we also want to build our brand to be better known by the public and can build our customer base so that it can become a top of mind product later.
This our financial projection, because our business is manufacturing where you have to produce and sell in mass production when you want to make a profit. So that with an annual target that increases every year, there is demand there is supply, we can increase production capacity as customers and sales increase. So that in the future income can increase and can generate profits. And from this source of income can make this company sustainable.

We hope that through this solution, when we order takeaway food or order goods online, we don’t have to worry anymore about the waste that we produce that will pollute the environment because our innovations can be composted like rotting plant material.
