David Bell

David is co-Founder at Idea Farm Ventures (IFV), a New York-based consumer and retail venture studio, founded to build and back the next generation of Millennial-resonant consumer and retail brands. Inc. Magazine referred to David as the “guru of the direct to consumer movement” for his role in helping and investing in brands like Bonobos, Burrow, Harry’s Jet, and Warby Parker, among others, and he’s also been called “the man who kick-started the direct brand economy.”

Prior to IFV, David had a 20-year academic career at the Wharton School where he held the Xinmei Zhang and Yongge Dai Chaired Professorship, was an award-winning researcher and teacher, and developed Wharton’s first courses on digital marketing and e-commerce.

David speaks globally for clients including Alibaba, Google, Haier, Nike, and Ralph Lauren and authored Location Is (Still) Everything, an authoritative book on how to win in the digital economy. His award-winning academic research has been published in Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Management Science, Marketing Science, and MIT Sloan Management Review.

David holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Business and an M.S. in Statistics, from Stanford University, as well as an M.Com. (1st Class Honors) and B.Com. from the University of Auckland. He is a New Zealand Citizen and US Permanent Resident and lives in New York City.

Antonio (Toni) Moreno

Antonio (Toni) Moreno is the Sicupira Family Associate Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. He teaches courses related to technology and operations management in the MBA, executive, and doctoral programs. Before joining HBS, he was an associate professor at the Kellogg School of Management.

Professor Moreno’s research studies the digital transformation of operations, and he is particularly interested in the transformation of retail and service industries. Professor Moreno’s work has appeared in journals such as Management Science, Marketing Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Information Systems Research, and Sloan Management Review, and has been covered by several media outlets. He received the Wickham Skinner Early-Career Research Accomplishments Award from the Production and Operations Management Society.

Professor Moreno earned degrees in electrical engineering and industrial engineering from Technical University of Catalonia. He has an MA in statistics and a PhD in operations and information management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Santiago Gallino

Santiago Gallino is an Assistant Professor at the Operations, Information and Decisions Department of the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania). He is interested in operations management challenges in the retail industry. Professor Gallino studies both digital transformation and store execution issues in retail. His research has won multiple awards and has appeared in journals such as Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Journal of Marketing, Sloan Management Review, and Harvard Business Review. His research has been covered frequently by several media outlets.

Before joining Wharton, Professor Gallino worked at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He holds a PhD in Operations and Information Management and a Master’s in Statistics from the University of Pennsylvania where he was a Fulbright Scholar, an MBA from IAE Business School, and a degree in Electrical Engineering from Universidad de Buenos Aires.
