ALCOFORD provides market access to smallholder-farmers with less than $2 a day in cassava value-chain by processing their crops and post-harvest losses to product ethanol for various uses mainly for food grade production or denatured for medical purposes and dehydrated for biofuel production very useful for improved cookstoves.
The startup linked companies which need ethanol to our business model by gathering women-farmers under a Block-farming program while creating income and buoyant opportunities for them.
Women & smallholder-farmers in Yoto rural communities; livestock breeders; ethanol Importers and processing companies benefit directly from our business model. This business essentially contributes to the improvement of living conditions in rural areas, provide jobs, market access and promote rural activities development.
Our working system is a “zero-waste economic model” which help improve food ecosystems. This is innovative because it allows us to control the raw materials supply-chain, water control and waste treatment to finished fermentation technique which is the decomposition of cassava-wort and post-harvest losses in the same bop-digester. The result of this process produce energy and organic fertilizer which are very useful for smallholder-farmers. While producing cassava product-food, no waste is left in nature and therefore we can claim that our startup model is one of the low-carbon industries.
We have a market demand for of 5.7 million liters of ethanol per year for a gross market value approximately 6 million USD in the sub region. Our next milestones in the next twelve month is to increase progressively our cassava processing capacity up to 6 ton/day in 2023. This process will help us to product efficiently and supply on time to our customers and empower up to 200 smallholder-farmers.
