The Supplant Company is a University of Cambridge start-up, a graduate of the Y-Combinator accelerator program, and is backed by major VCs in the US and Europe. We are an innovative and dynamic ingredient company, creating products to address major health and environmental challenges in the global food system as well as the wider consumer goods and materials sectors. Based on our proprietary carbohydrate platform, we are developing ingredients that are better for people and the planet.

Responsibilities:
- Leading our commercial strategy: Working with the CEO and senior management to define align the overall company strategy and growth milestones with commercial goals and actions
- Apply deep understanding of the global food/FMCG landscape to define commercial goals and actions
- Strategically identifying future market opportunities
- Work cross-functionally with marketing, product development, operations, business development and technology to align company assets and thinking and ensure Supplant can address future demand
- Working with business development and operations teams to maximise value from commercial partnerships
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in sales, business development, procurement and/or strategy in the FMCG space, with a track record of working cross-functionally with marketing, product, operations etc.
- A deep understanding of the drivers of growth for FMCG products across the value chain: from raw material to finished product to retail outlet
- Experience in a high-growth start up environment preferred - well-equipped to move at a fast pace, and keen to get ‘stuck in’
- Comfortable with high-velocity work, juggling priorities and working around unforeseen roadblocks
- Track record of building from the ground up - from hiring a team to designing and putting in place new procedures & systems
- An agile entrepreneur with a global mindset and a bias for action
- A people-first approach of leading and motivating your team
- Excited about the nutrition and wellness space - able to be a great ambassador for the business
