Colorifix was founded by two synthetic biologists who were developing biological sensors to monitor heavy metal contamination in drinking water in rural Nepal.
While testing these sensors in Kathmandu, Jim and Orr began to learn about the enormous impact of the dyeing industry on water and human health; and realised that, rather than simply monitoring the problem, they had the tools to solve it. With some creativity and a bit of luck, Colorifix was founded in 2016.
Role description:
Colorifix has a unique operational and business model. Therefore, we like to build our own bespoke software tools to help the business run. We are looking for a full-stack developer to join our team and help us build data and content management platforms.
You will be working in collaboration with data scientists, engineers and the implementation team to develop simple and flexible solutions for interaction with our clients and staff.
Informatics is a small but rapidly growing division at Colorifix. Each member of the team is an expert in their own field and we make our best to create a collaborative environment where everyone can work flexibly, grow into the role and learn from each other. We value initiative, desire to learn and a drive for exploration. Although the whole company is growing fast, it still has a start-up vibe. The role will be development-heavy but there will be plenty opportunities to engage with other activities of the team and contribute to how company functions as a whole.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Writing, documenting, testing and reviewing Python and JavaScript code
- Participating in software architecture design and advising on API development
- Writing automation scripts to support every aspect of the business
Role Requirement:
Essential:
- Excellent Python skills and familiarity with ASGI frameworks and toolkits, e.g. Starlette, FastAPI, Starlite
- Experience with Python database toolkits and object relational mapping, e.g. SQLAlchemy, neomodel
- Familiarity with REST API, HTTP, Websockets
- Excellent client-side JavaScript skills
- Experience working with Vue.js and Quasar frameworks
- git
- MacOS, Linux
Desirable:
- Experience with graph databases, e.g. Neo4j
- Experience working with headless content management systems
Title: Full-Stack Developer
Reports to: Head of Informatics
Location: Cambridge, Norwich with option for blended working from home
Remuneration: £50-55,000 DOE
