Mango Materials is a start-up company, a certified B Corp and women-led team working to produce and sell environmentally friendly, biobased, biodegradable polymers from waste greenhouse gases.

Background on the company and position:

The company is led by a technically oriented team - five of our senior team members have PhDs in STEM. We put the safety and well-being of our people above all other priorities. We love to track and measure. We use a software called Asana to monitor project progress and allocate tasks. We follow detailed standard operating procedures for all research testing, plant operations, and business operations. We keep detailed timecards. We have meticulous naming and version control policies for all electronic files. We record and thoroughly analyze all data and are in constant pursuit to find the best and most efficient way to get things done. We work hard and always seek to work smart.


This is a full-time, on-site position - we are hosted by our partner, a local wastewater treatment plant, and have office trailers near our production site. Odors and noises affiliated with a modern waste processing facility are to be expected.


Our current opening is for an Operator position with the following hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday & Friday 6am - 2pm OR noon-8pm, plus
  • Saturday & Sunday 9am-5pm


Mango is in growth mode. Scale-up of this type is a process with many unknowns and surprises, and this position will have the opportunity to help scale a first-of-its kind technology. We are looking for someone to join us on this adventure with an open mind and enthusiasm to get into details. A glass half-full, positive attitude is a must!


The mission of this position is to diligently follow protocols in a field environment to assist in advancing the overall company goal of producing biodegradable, biobased polymers from methane gas.


The Operator will be expected to:

  • Follow Mango safety principles and contribute to the behavioral & psychological safety of our work environment.
  • Work full-time in an outdoor, field environment
  • Operate fermentation and downstream processing equipment by diligently following detailed protocols
  • Clearly and carefully record detailed notes and observations
  • Analyze field samples in the lab
  • Perform mathematical calculations
  • Troubleshoot basic challenges
  • Maintain cleanliness at the work site
  • Perform other company-related duties designated at the discretion of the supervisor
