Head of Finance

Posted on: 04 March 2022

Company Overview

Colorifix was founded by two synthetic biologists who were developing biological sensors to monitor heavy metal contamination in drinking water in rural Nepal.

While testing these sensors in Kathmandu,  Jim and Orr began to learn about the enormous impact of the dyeing industry on water and human health; and realised that,  rather than simply monitoring the problem,  they had the tools to solve it. With some creativity and a bit of luck,  Colorifix was founded in 2016.

Job openings

Colorifix is seeking a commercially minded Head of Finance to drive its newly formed Finance Division to support the next stage of the company’s growth. You would be joining Colorifix at an exciting time, the company having just closed a Series B funding round and being on the cusp of commercialising its R&D and rapidly expanding its team of 40.

You could work from home much of the time, however the ability to spend the occasional day in our Cambridge or Norwich sites is essential. Our London-based staff also have an office space they like to collaborate in.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

With the support of the Finance Assistant and other team members, you would own all functions of the Finance Division, which include:

  • 5+ years’ experience at a managerial level (e.g. Head of Finance, Financial Controller), preferably with SMEs
  • Comfortable signing off on and filing compliance reports from VAT returns to investor submissions
  • Strong communicator and influencer, easily building relationships within our team and with external stakeholders
  • Comfortable within the agile environment of a start-up and meeting sudden deadlines that can arise
  • Takes initiative to identify areas for improvement and lead a change effort
  • Tech savy; leveraging automation to create efficient systems. Advanced Excel user but will think beyond excel and into cloud solutions.
