We’re growing our team with scientists excited about building something new, bringing our novel non-toxic dyes to scale, and disrupting an industry. As an early-stage company, we have a fast-paced environment, and we move quickly to build the company and bring our product to market. Each team member plays a critical role in our development. As a Fermentation Research Associate, you will be developing a robust fermentation process for small molecule dye products.


  • Work closely with the fermentation team to design and carry out fermentation experiments in shake flasks and bioreactors.
  • Prepare media and stock solutions for fermentation experiments.
  • Set up, operate, sample, and tear down bench-scale reactors.
  • Gather and analyze on-line and off-line data and prepare batch reports.
  • Participate in lab-scale production runs.
  • Identify contamination and design measures to avoid it.
  • Keep organized and detailed documentation throughout the experimental process. Develop SOPs for documentation and knowledge transfer.
  • Present data to and communicate effectively with other team members.


  • B.S. in chemical engineering, chemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology, microbiology or other related fields preferred.
  • Biology/biochemistry lab experience.
  • Strong understanding of sterile techniques.
  • Experience with lab-scale bioreactors preferred.
  • Able to occasionally work off hours or weekends.
  • Detail-oriented, keeps thorough and accurate documentation.
  • Clear and proactive communicator, written and verbal.
  • Creative problem solver.
